In The Dog House !!!
Life is not all doom and gloom, most of the dogs living in Ireland have good lives
and if they were asked what they would like at this exact moment they would simply
answer “something tasty to chew on please”. These are the lucky ones.
Unfortunately for some the response would be very different -
“that he/she/they won’t beat or kick me again”
“that someone might remember to leave me out some food or water today”
“that I didn’t have to have anymore puppies to earn a living”
“if I could just give a loud enough bark that someone would find me
and bring me somewhere safe and warm”
The list is endless, the truth is that everyday around the
country “man” is neglecting and/or abusing his “best friend”
With the hectic stressful pace of life today we understand that people’s lives
can change dramatically, no job lasts until retirement anymore,
there are no guarantees that you will have the funds to pay next months bills.
Help is at hand, if you find yourself in such a position we will
help you to find a warm loving home for you pet.
Please do not dump your dog when you no longer want it,
can’t provide for it, etc contact your local rescue and ask if they can
give you assistance with rehoming or contact your local dog warden.
When you abandon your pet and it makes it’s way into a rescue
or a pound no one knows what it’s name is, whether it is housetrained,
sociable with other dogs/pets/children, etc Your dog has a much better chance
of being rehomed if it’s history and mannerisms are known.
If you see or know of a dog/dogs being mistreated/neglected/abused
please do contact your local rescue/dog warden/garda station, etc.
You personal details will be kept in the strictest confidence
or you can remain anonymous if you prefer.
If you do not make the report you are as much to blame as the person
responsible for the conditions in which the dog is living.
Thanks to one caring person we were able to help Rose who was found emaciated
and had bailing twine embedded into her neck.

The World’s Best Couch Potatoes !!!
No we have not made an mistake, we realise that the majority of people in Ireland would
never think of “greyhound” and “couch potato” in the same sentence but believe me
it is 100% true as the photo of Taz and Lisa above shows.
There are so many myths and false stories in this country in relation to having a greyhound as a pet
but that is all they are, there are thousands of homes around the world where you can see these
beautiful souls lounging around but for some reason the truth is not sinking into
the hearts and souls of Irish residents. If you are looking for a companion that
you can have a pleasant walk with each day and that will curl up peacefully by the fire
on a winter’s evening or stretch out beside a window with sunlight shining through and give you
vast amounts of unconditional love then a greyhound would be an ideal candidate for the ‘job’.
If you are unsure or have any questions please contact your local rescue who
will either be able to answer your questions or give you the details of someone else who can.
It is also usually possible to meet with someone who has already adopted a greyhound
to hear what their experiences were like. Be warned though, once you get ‘bitten’ by
the “greyhound bug” you will soon realise that one in your life is not enough :o))
To see some of the many greyhounds that are awaiting your call
check out the greyhound page on the Irish Animals website.
